Club aims: To provide and encourage members to participate in all forms of diving, and progress in their individual ability.
Club profile: Pennine Divers was formed in July 1998 and was officially assigned branch status on 6th October 1998.
British Sub-Aqua Club: Pennine Divers is part of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC). Why is this a good thing? The British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) is an internationally recognised Scuba-Diving Club with branches all over the world. Pennine Divers are one such branch of the BSAC (Branch 2222), and this Club follows the BSAC rules and guidelines. When you have paid your BSAC fees you will be covered by their third

party liability insurance. You will also receive a monthly diving Magazine,
Dive, unless you opt out. This means that you are protected by BSAC as long as you have adhered to their rules and guidelines. The BSAC is based on the principal of non-profit-making in its training. This is why there are many local branches. You will essentially receive free training (apart from costs) up to and including Advanced Diver at Branch level. The current levels of diver grade within the BSAC are: Ocean Diver, Sports Diver, Dive Leader, Advanced Diver and First Class Diver. You may also learn to become an instructor with the BSAC, but many of these course are external and do therefore incur some cost. There are also many skill development courses that you can undertake to progress your diving skills and therefore make you a more confident and prepared diver. Some of these may be undertaken ‘in-house’, but some will have to be undertaken externally.

We currently have 1 Open Water Instructor, 1 Assistant Open Water and 1 boat handling instructor and diver coxswain. Members have a variety of diving-related qualifications including boat handling, O2 administration, search and recovery, practical rescue management, diver cox'n, and Trimix diver. We also run trips in conjunction with other friendly branches.

Our membership ranges from the complete novice diver to Trimix diver. Our club welcomes all grades of divers. Our diving interests reflect the diversity of our members, and the club has interests in RIB and hard-boat diving, wreck diving, technical diving, scenic diving and training. We have run trips to Mull, the Firth of Forth, the Farne Islands, St Abbs, Scapa Flow, Anglesey, Lundy and the Isle of Mann.

Our club meets every two weeks for pool training sessions at Breeze Hill School, Oldham. If you are interested in diving, or are already a diver looking for a friendly club, we would welcome you at the pool (please contact us in advance so we know to expect you).
